A little over a month ago I wrote an article “Agloco Don’t Believe the Hype” in which I mentioned that Agloco had stated they would release the View-Bar by 16/04/07, so today I thought I would check back on their blog to see how they were doing…
Apparently Agloco have not yet integrated the View-bar with the add servers so are delaying the release by a few weeks.
To be fair to Agloco, release dates for software are often difficult to predict / achieve, but it will be interesting to see how much longer it takes to release.
On a slightly different note, I notice the copyright notice on the footer of the main Agloco site still reads 2006.
I would have expected someone to have spotted / updated that by now. Most Web designers would have known better than to hard code a date in the first place.
Am I being petty mentioning a date? Personally I think it matters for a number of reasons which I am not going to start ranting on about…. besides, there are a number of things wrong with this site also…. but then this site is a hobby not a business…

They’re definitely making themselves look bad on a business perspective. They shouldn’t announce a product, the viewbar, and it’s release date if they can’t even make that date.
A lot of software projects run late, things do not always go to plan, to a point it go’s with the territory…
That said, I don’t think Agloco is a particularly professional outfit.
The reason I put the date in the original post, and then went back and checked their site again was because I had a strong suspicion that the they would miss the deadline.
The thing about their site stating “Copyright 2006″ IMO shows a complete lack of professionalism, attention to detail and programming knowledge.
Its pretty basic stuff, but when you build websites you avoid adding things that will go out of date and make you look bad. In the case of the date, it can be retrieved automatically… so there really is no excuse.
The fact it still reads 2006 (as of 16/04/07) just shows how much interest the owners take in their site. In 3.5 months, not one person from Agloco has visited the site and identified this…… very poor
I HATE Agloco. I suffer skin rash every time when I see that name
I don’t know why anyone would recommend something that nobody has tested. The Viewbar download is being rolled out and nobody has had the opportunity to try it out. I personally have decided not to register for the viewbar. I would rather wait to see what the viewbar looks like and how it performs before I recommend it to anyone.
Personally its irresponsible to recommend something unproven just because you want to get on the ground floor to make some money. The negative impact that this may have on your loyal reader may be huge. I will test the Agloco viewbar and then decide if it has any value. If Agloco viewbar performs miserably I don’t think I will read any of the blogs that recommended this service. I understand that the main reason why people support this viewbar is because of its huge earnings potential, but I would not compromise the value my blog provides to my user.
To cash in, some say “it wont cost you anything” but it does cost one way or another, everything does…
